Warbear Leather farming guide

The Blasted Lands has seen better days. Since the opening of The Dark Portal the entire region has turned into a wasteland of clay and dust. But leave it to a goblin to find the green in a desert. Or more accurately, the gold in the Tainted Forest.

Warbear Leather

Warbear Leather can be valuable at the auction house.

Warbear Leather is a hard to comeby leather required to craft the popular transmog items Warbear Harness and Warbear Woolies. The harness needs 12 of them while the woolies 14. So why is this leather so expensive? Simple. Because throughout the years and the evolution of the game, many of the mobs that you can skin for Warbear Leather have been removed from the game or had their loot tables adjusted to no longer give the item. This is where the Tainted Black Bear comes in to make us a small fortune.

In the Tainted Forest in the southwest of the Blasted Lands you will find many foul and tainted beasts. For Skinners this is a good area to grind up their Vanilla skinning skill because the mobs are plentiful and the Tainted Black Bear has a 20-25% chance to drop Warbear Leather when skinned. Averaging between 250-500 gold each on most realms, this is as easy gold as it gets.

Raw crafting materials are always in demand and are generally fast sellers on the Auction House. Seeing as Warbear Leather is more of a special item and only required for 2 recipes it will sell slower than other leather, but it is guaranteed to sell and at a much higher price than other leather.

You can use the following macro:

/cleartarget

/target tainted black bear

/cast sunfire

Sunfire assumes that you are a druid. For other classes, use another attack spell or ability instead, preferably one that is instant.

Additional notes

  • Hyperspawn – These mobs are part of a quest, meaning that the game will force spawn mobs if there is only a small number available. The faster you kill the mobs the faster they will spawn.
  • Group Farm – Because this is a hyperspawn, invite your friends to a group, spread out, and kill everything together. The faster the mobs die the faster they respawn. After a few minutes of killing, everyone can skin their own mobs, reset, and do again.
